The condition for admission to study is proper completion of study in a Bachelor’s degree study programme at a Czech or foreign institute of higher education with a sufficient study level quality (in relation to foreign institutes of higher education, a rating list of institutes of higher education used at prestigious foreign universities shall apply). Every applicant has to pass the entrance examination in English. The applicants shall submit an authenticated copy of your Bachelor’s degree diploma and a certified copy of your transcript of studies, translated into English (i.e. diploma with a diploma supplement) or a certificate of a successful passing of the final graduation examination. There is required validation clause concerning with the recognition of foreign education (Bachelor’s degree study programme) in the Czech Republic (detailed info is available via firstname.lastname@example.org) as well. The applicants who have not completed their study in a Bachelor’s degree study programme by the time of submitting their application shall present the respective documents later, but no later than by the 25th September 2017 (29th September 2017 – this is applied to students in international study programmes – CEMACUBE only). Any documents submitted later shall be disregarded. The maximum number of students admitted to a study programme is 40, the minimum number for opening a programme being 1 student. The tuition fee (not applicable for CEMACUBE students) shall be specified by the Faculty Dean in a contract with a student in an amount in accordance with the actual issue of the CTU Statute Art. 11 and Attachment No. 7 to the CTU Statute.
Study branch Biomedical Engineering – full-time study – within this study branch there are required basic knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, electrical engineering and programming, application and integration knowledge and understanding of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and engineering in general, an ability to conduct scientific research individually on a distinct, well described topic within the project and an ability to design products that can solve problems in a systematic way within the biomedical and clinical engineering.
Study branch Systematic Integration of Processes in Health Service – full-time study – within this study branch there are required basic knowledge of mathematics, physics, biology, anatomy and physiology, application and integration knowledge and understanding of health, technology and economic sciences, an ability to conduct project and human resources management and to solve problems in a systematic way in health service.
Study branch Instruments and Methods for Biomedicine – full-time study – within this study branch there are required basic knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and molecular biology, application and integration knowledge and understanding of mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology, an ability to conduct scientific research individually on a distinct, well described topic at higher level within the project and an ability to design products that can solve problems in a systematic way in biomedicine.
Entrance examination in English consists of a letter of motivation and proficiency in English. In case of the CEMACUBE applicants the entrance examination will be replaced by the results of the successful CEMACUBE study programme entrance examination (see www.biomedicaltechnology.eu).
Letter of motivation
Applicants interested in the follow-up two years Biomedical and clinical technology programme (study branch Biomedical Engineering, Systematic of Integration Processes in Health Service and Instruments and Methods for Biomedicine) should be aware that the motivation letter plays an important role in the admission procedure. The motivation letter gives the Admission Committee relevant clues concerning the suitability of a candidate for the programme. Candidates are advised to address at least the following points:
- • Why do you choose for Biomedical and clinical technology as the main subject of your Master's programme?
- • Why do you apply for the Biomedical and clinical technology programme (study branch Biomedical Engineering or Systematic Integration of Processes in Health Service or Instruments and Methods for Biomedicine) specifically, rather than to other comparable programmes/study branches?
- • Why do you apply for a programme/study branch that is specifically oriented towards preparation and training for a subsequent biomedical engineering clinical practice, health service management or scientific research?
- • Why do you think that you are suited for such a programme/study branch?
- • Do you have any idea about the topic of your future thesis (master project)?
- • How will you fit in a class of students from all over the world, all with different backgrounds?
- • What are your future plans for the time after you have got your M.Sc. degree? Length of motivation letter: Maximum of 750 words!
Proficiency in English
The capability to communicate effectively in English, both in written and in verbal form is required. Verification of this fact will be performed by controlled interview through Skype communication based on previously announced schedule (24th April – 28th April 2017 / 15th May – 19th May 2017).
Applications for study in a follow-up study programme Biomedical and clinical technology in the branch Biomedical Engineering, Systematic Integration of Processes in Health Service and Instruments and Methods for Biomedicine must be signed electronically on web page http://prihlaska.cvut.cz (select version English) and must be filled either printed in person or trought post. The last day to accept aplications to study for the academic year 2017/2018 is 31st March 2017 until 15:00 (time in the Czech Republic including DST) in case of the personal delivery to the officer of the study department of CTU FBME. In case of sending by post the date stamps must be 31st March 2017 at the lastest. Application submitted or sending later shall be disregarded. In case of the CEMACUBE applicants there is required this process as well. All information may be obtained at the study department of FBME CTU (nám. The electronic application must be printed out, signed and sent to the study department (contact above). Condition for inclusion of printed application to the admission procedure is fully completed and signed application form with proof of payment of administrative fee. Doctor’s certificate doesn´t required. The administration fee for the admission procedure is CZK 600.00 in the case of the electronic application (administration fee not applicable for CEMACUBE students). The fee can be paid by postal order type A, transfer order or by a payment card online directly in the electronic application to study through the payment gateway. The administration fee is not returnable under any circumstances.
